Theater at Istana Budaya Malaysia

Natrah…

Theater Natrah is now at Istana Budaya from 30th Nov until 9th Dec but was extended until 13th December 2009. The story was about Nadra Maarof or her Dutch’s name Maria Huberdina Hertogh. The theater focused on the love story between Natrah and her husband Mansor Adabi, but, I wouldn’t want to elaborate on that because the story was a sad tale of a girl being ripped off her happiness…or that is what we thought her happiness would be. Her story was a sad ending for a girl born Roman Catholic and raised as Islam and later were converted back to her original religion and died in vain.

But that was not what I wanted to write about…I wanted to write about my experience.

It was the first time I went to a theater. The experience was overwhelming until I forget to have feelings for the story itself. Eventhough I brought tissues just in case, but I found myself not needing it…:D:D. I was focusing on the technical aspects of the theater, about the awesome props and how they change and move it about, I was awestruck by the “bombing” and fire on stage, I was mesmerize by the choreography and I was dumbfounded by the dialogs. The whole package of watching the theater had my mouth open and my mind thinking on how good those people were in preparing all those “gadgets” to tackle the audience. The package of emotional was enhanced by its audio, visual and even the “touch” material when they drop some white thin papers from the roof of the theater hall. I envy those at the bottom front seats because they could enjoy the “touch” aspects of watching the theater, and they could also see the face expressions by the actors and actresses when they were deep in their dialogs. But of course I understand, that is what you got when you pay RM150 for being in front of the stage as opposed to RM30..hehe. All in all..I enjoy my experience at the theater last night.

Good job to all the production people who were responsible for making it happen and I would like to congratulate Eirma Fatima for a job well done!...CONGRATULATION!!

I felt like going again…
